I'm not entirely sure how long I stood there. Well past sunset and into the evening. The book eventually fell from  my hand and opened with a thump, but I didn't care. My little girl was gone.

But she also wasn't here yet. What was this? What the hell was going on? Two people shifting into mist before my eyes, one my daughter I'd not even had?

"Potential." I whispered, mind whirring.
"It showed me what I could do if I didn't do this. Or did it? I don't even-"

Grabbing my head in confusion and anger, I fell on my ass and tensed up in rage for a second before screwing at the sky.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PLAYING AT!?"

"Uhhh, nothing?"

I jumped at the voice coming from behind me, turning around and managing fall on my ass again by moving round too quickly. I was greeted by a fit of giggles.

"Pahahahahaha! You alright there mate? Hehehehehahaha!

"Yeah, fine, thanks." I said, picking myself up off the floor, thoroughly embarassed."

"My fault." She said, still giggling. "For surprising you, I mean. Let me buy you a drink to make up for it."
